Position Overview
S&T Excavating is hiring an Equipment Operator for cross-country pipeline construction projects out of our Tioga, PA location. We’re looking for experienced operators who take pride in their work, show up ready to produce, and want to grow with a company that has a clear path from Operator C to Operator A and beyond. Travel and overnight stays may be required and compensated with increased pay and benefits.
Location & Schedule
Based out of Tioga, PA. Project sites vary; extended and overnight travel may be required and compensated. The schedule may include overtime, potential weekend, and holiday work.
Chain of Command
Reports to: Foreman or Superintendent
Key Responsibilities
• Proficiently operate heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, ADTs, skidsteers, etc.) safely and efficiently on pipeline and other project sites
• Execute excavation, trenching, pipelining, grading, and utility work to spec
• Perform labor tasks when needed. Versatility is valued here
• Perform daily pre-shift equipment inspections and report any issues to supervision
• Check grades using survey/GPS equipment as required
• Follow all company safety protocols including pre-trip inspections and incident reporting
• Complete daily field documentation accurately.
• Work cooperatively with the crew and independently when the situation calls for it
• Keep assigned equipment clean and ready for work
Qualifications
• Cross-country pipeline construction experience preferred
• Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment
• Ability to work at production-level speed and accuracy
• Safety-conscious. Able to identify unsafe conditions and address them with the supervisor
• Reliable, self-sufficient, and coachable
• Valid driver’s license

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for experienced field leaders to join our team on cross-country pipeline work out of our Tioga, PA location.
Position Overview
The Foreman leads a field crew, manages daily production, ensures safety and quality, and acts as the critical link between crew execution and supervision. This role reports directly to the Superintendent or Project Manager and is responsible for making sure the work gets done safely, correctly, and efficiently every day. Travel and overnight stays may be required and rewarded with increased pay and benefits.
Location & Schedule
Based out of Tioga, PA. Project sites vary; extended and overnight travel may be required and compensated. We typically work 5 - 10 to 12hr plus days. The schedule includes overtime, potential weekend, and holiday work.
Chain of Command
Reports to: Superintendent or Project Manager
Key Responsibilities
• Directly supervise and lead a field crew (typically 1–10 people) on cross-country pipeline construction and other projects
• Understand and enforce all company safety policies, conduct daily JSAs (Job Safety Analyses) and toolbox talks
• Ensure daily production goals and quality standards are met safely and on schedule
• Assign tasks to crew members, complete tasks alongside the crew, and actively train field crew
• Read job plans and convey scope, sequence, and standards to crew members
• Monitor and inspect incoming materials, equipment, and subcontractors for accuracy and quality
• Check grades, trenching, pipe installation, and other critical work throughout the shift
• Complete daily field reports and production tracking accurately. (company field reporting software)
• Communicate progress and issues to the Superintendent promptly
• Prioritize project phases correctly and adjust as field conditions require
• Appoint a crew lead any time you must leave the jobsite, even temporarily
• Lead by example
Qualifications & Experience
• 5+ years of pipeline or heavy construction field experience
• Proven experience leading or supervising a field crew
• Cross-country or mainline pipeline construction experience required
• Ability to read and interpret job plans and contract documents
• Strong understanding of pipeline construction methods, sequencing, and safe work practices
• 30-hour OSHA certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• Competent with daily field documentation and reporting

• Participate in daily JSAs and pre-task planning
• Assist with site cleanup and material handling throughout the shift

• Identify unsafe conditions and report them to the supervisor immediately

Candidates with OQ (Operator Qualification) certifications are strongly preferred, but we are willing to work with the right candidate who has relevant field experience and is willing to obtain their OQs. We’re growing and looking for operators who want a home, not just a job.

This work requires a crew of 2 people.
S&T Excavating is hiring a person to be responsible for completing our 2026 pipeline ROW mowing. This job includes planning mowing route for the day/week by following provided ROW maps and utilizing other mapping software, brush hogging ROW per contract, managing your spotter who will scout ahead and weed whack around risers/other obstacles and mark them out.
Location & Schedule
Based out of St. Marys, PA and located in surrounding areas. This work starts at the beginning of August and usually runs until mid to end of October.
